Physically-based Animation Rendering with Markov Chain Monte Carlo

چکیده
Exploring temporal coherence among light transport paths is very important to remove temporally perception-sensitive artifacts in animation rendering. Using the contribution of a light transport path to all frames in an animation as the sampling distribution function allows us to adapt Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms to exploit the temporal and spatial coherence among paths in order to generate a perceptually pleasant animation. A new perturbation technique called time perturbation is developed to explore the temporal coherence among paths. Furthermore, in order to make animation rendering plausible, we distribute iterative computational tasks to a pool of computers for parallel computation. Each task is rendered with a set of parameters adapted according to the local properties of each task. We demonstrate that this local adaptation does not introduce bias statistically. The resulting animations are perceptually better than those rendered in a frame-by-frame manner.

Photorealistic Animation Rendering with Population Monte
A physically-correct animation can be generated by estimating a large number of highly correlated path integrals falling on the image plane at a sequence of different periods of time. Therefore, exploring temporal and spatial coherence among path integrals is very important for enhancing rendering efficiency. Removing temporal artifacts is even more important than spatial artifacts because our ...

This thesis presents methods for photorealistic rendering of virtual objects so that they can be seamlessly composited into images of the real world. To generate predictable and consistent results, we study physically based methods, which simulate how light propagates in a mathematical model of the augmented scene. This computationally challenging problem demands both efficient and accurate sim...
متن کاملLocal Quasi-Monte Carlo Exploration
In physically-based image synthesis, the path space of light transport paths is usually explored by stochastic sampling. The two main families of algorithms are Monte Carlo/quasi-Monte Carlo sampling and Markov chain Monte Carlo. While the former is known for good uniform discovery of important regions, the latter facilitates efficient exploration of local effects. We introduce a hybrid samplin...
